Terms
Short, because the app is simple: you block your own apps, on your own devices, under rules you wrote. Here is what we promise, what we don't, and where the law sits.
Who we are
MindFence is made by byRazLabs Ltd, registered in England and Wales under company number 16595979, registered office 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ. Questions go to [email protected].
The beta
While MindFence is distributed through TestFlight it is a test version. Apple's TestFlight terms apply to how you get it, builds expire, and things will occasionally break. Don't build anything load-bearing on a beta, and tell us when it misbehaves.
What blocking is, and is not
MindFence asks the system to shield apps you chose, under conditions you set. Two limits are worth stating in the terms and not just the marketing:
- Blocking depends on permissions you can revoke. Turning off MindFence's Screen Time permission in Settings ends all blocking in about twenty seconds. MindFence is a commitment device, not a guarantee.
- Rules about places depend on your device being confident about where it is, and it sometimes isn't. Rules can fire late or let go early.
So: do not rely on MindFence for anyone's safety, for parental control, or for anything where a missed block has serious consequences. It is not built for that and we don't promise it.
Not a medical product
MindFence is not a medical or therapeutic device and makes no claims about treating addiction, anxiety, or any other condition. If your relationship with your phone is causing you real harm, a person qualified to help will do more than an app can.
Pairing
Only invite people who have agreed to share their presence with you. Each person's rules are their own; MindFence gives nobody the ability to control or monitor another adult's device, and you must not try to use it that way.
Licence
When MindFence is on the App Store, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement applies unless we publish one of our own. Nothing in these terms takes away rights that agreement or the law gives you.
Liability
We are liable where the law says we must be, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence and for fraud; none of that is excluded. Beyond what cannot be excluded, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us for MindFence in the twelve months before the claim. During a free beta, that is nothing, which is another reason not to rely on a beta.
Changes and the law
If these terms change, the date below changes with them, and a material change will be called out in the app's release notes. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts have jurisdiction, though if you live elsewhere in the UK you may also use your local courts.
